I'm having a acute health problem, should I do a fast?
Fasting can be extremely effective in resolving acute disease symptoms such as fever, inflammation, swelling, pain, etc. The most clear-cut indication for therapeutic fasting is the lack of appetite that characterises acute disease. It is in acute disease that we often see dramatic results from short term fasting. Be sure to pass the PH test before starting any fast.
I'm having a chronic disease, will I benefit from fasting?
Fasting is also effectively utilised in chronic disease. Many conditions of long standing may respond to therapeutic fasting. Unlike acute disease symptoms that often respond quickly, chronic diseases may require from several days to several weeks of fasting. In some cases, multiple fasts may be necessary.
Fasting also can be used as a diagnostic tool in uncovering subclinical pathology that may exist. Addictions to drugs such as alcohol, cocaine, nicotine, and caffeine are examples where fasting can dramatically reduce the often protracted withdrawal symptoms. Fasting is a method of speeding up the detoxification process. It can be an intense and sometimes unpleasant experience, but it is highly effective.
